It can’t even be said that we “worship” the Holy Powers of the Æsir and Vanir.
We hail them to join us for a shared meal.
The ancient Trú custom … “a gift for a gift”…is still a part of our lives. It is one of our Nine Noble Virtues called “Hospitality”. When you invite a friend to a meal you also give them a small gift. They, in turn, would know enough to bring a small gift for you.
So in our “worship service”, called a blót, we hail the Holy Powers to join us for a meal. We offer them a gift (sacrifice) and they in turn give us a special blessing.
